To migrate from a previous version, uninstall File Metadata, and install Release 1.2. All file association settings will be preserved.
The changes from version 1.1 are:
- Support for selecting multiple extensions in the File Association Manager. This is the only change from the 1.2 release candidate.
- Incorporation of command line support into the main release. This is an optional component that installs by default, but can be deselected during installation.
- Fixes for two issues.
- A crash which occurred when the metadata context menu was opened on a file which was not currently accessible.
- Previously, trying to read a property value on a file with no metadata at all created an empty alternate stream. This created unwanted footprint, particularly when files are indexed by Windows search. This fix ensures that an alternate stream is created only when the first property value is written.
